  3.  Allow  us to inform you of the fact that on this disk you will find   the 
  4. latest  issue of  ST NEWS  - Volume 6 Issue 2,   finished on  August  18th 
  5. 1991 (the first lustrum issue!).
  6.  As  usual,   the  thing is packed with all kinds of  interesting  bits  - 
  7. reviews,    features,   religion  (ahem),  heavy  metal,  human  interest, 
  8. programming  tricks and some rather neat little programs in the   PROGRAMS 
  9. folder.   We  think there's bound to be something on it  you'll  like,  so 
  10. therefore we will not keep you long in this document file.
  11.  There are, however, some things you should know.

  47.  We would have liked to fill this disk a bit more, but we didn't have  any
  48. stuff left to publish.
  49.  Think  of it:  There's 1032 Kb of articles, 80 Kb of PROGRAMS folder  and
  50. the actual ST NEWS program all on one standard double-sided disk!
  51.  
  52. p HOW TO COPY ST NEWS                                                      q
  53.  
  54.  The disk is double-sided,   i.e. you'll need a double-sided disk drive to 
  55. use it.   Copying is very easy,  however.  The disk is formatted with  the 
  56. standard  amount  of  tracks and sectors so any  PD  or  commercial   copy 
  57. program will be able to do the backupping for you (why,  even the bleedin' 
  58. DESKTOP can do it!). It's 80 tracks (0-79) with 9 sectors per track.
  59.  You should try to copy it as often as possible to everyone you know,   as 
  60. this  issue of  ST NEWS  is,   as usual,  Public Domain and may be  spread 
  61. freely! Use in PD libraries and all that stuff is strictly allowed.
  62.  Please   refer  to  the  "Colofon"  article  for  a  list   of    foreign 
  63. distributors  if  you care to get any of the other 29  ST  NEWS    issues. 
  64. People who live in other countries can contact us directly at the  address

  67. p VIRUS ON THE BOOTSECTOR?!                                                q
  68.  
  69.  If you use an old virus killer,   it may say that there's a virus on  the 
  70. bootsector.   Rest assure,  however,  that there is none (at least all the 
  71. copies WE gave out had no virus on them).   The bootsector IS  executable, 
  72. however, which is actually necessary, for:
  73.  
  74.  !!MR. BEE OF THE OVERLANDERS WROTE A NICE BOOTDEMO FOR US!!

  77.  It's got 37 balls and a 46 character scroll that's quite big.
  78.  If  you are not sure,   just check the disk with any virus killer  -  but 
  79. preferably the "Atari ST Virus Killer" or "Ultimate Virus Killer"  version 
  80. 4.1 or higher!
  81.  We are sorry to say that the demo boot sector does not work on monochrome
  82. monitors... too bad. Be glad it doesn't crash or something.

  86.  Just  as  this actual ST NEWS was actually already finished,  we  got  an 
  87. article  written by The Bitmap Brothers - a "Gods" players' guide.  As  it 
  88. was printed out,  we could not enter it in this issue.  Instead, we'd like 
  89. to mention that the NEXT ST NEWS (which will either be Volume 6 Issue 3 or 
  90. Volume  7  Issue  1) will contain this  article,  written  by  the  Bitmap 
  91. Brothers themselves, including ways to get all the world level maps!

  96.  Do take the trouble to read the scroll text in full.   It mentions a  lot 
  97. of people I know,  and some of these have dire reasons to contact us (i.e. 
  98. Jeff, Frøystein, and more). Some people are even mentioned TWICE!

  102.  ST NEWS  works on all ST systems,   and on a TT as long as it's  operated 
  103. using the ST medium or high resolutions.   Some options may be disabled on 
  104. half meg machines, though.

  393.  Well,   as everybody nowadays seems to be doing hidden   articles,  times  
  394. have dawned upon us to do something new.  We  have,  thus, done  a  hidden  
  395. vid' on the  ST  NEWS   International  Christmas Coding  Convention  Vid',  
  396. and   now we have also  done  a  hidden 'READ_ME.TXT'!  Well,  I hope  you 
  397. feel pleased with yourself now.
  398.  
  399.  We  are,   however,   NOT  going to do much with  this  remarkably hidden 
  400. thing. Maybe we can swear a bit.
  401.  But we're not brought up that way.
  402.  All we can say is: Have fun reading the issue!
